TBT: Racing To The Sea by premier painter Donn Robb
Don Robb was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Delaware
County. Don graduated from Philadelphia College of Art (now The
University of the Arts). He worked for the Philadelphia
Department of Recreation teaching painting and sculpture. Later
Don moved to New York City and worked for The Metropolitan
Museum for 30 years. Surrounded by all the wonderful works of
art five days a week was great inspiration to Don. Everyday
possible Don would walk and sketch in NYC's Central Park. In
2009 Don retired from the MET and moved to Bucks County which
he views as "one big beautiful park filled with cows and deer".
Here he began to paint again inspired by the landscape
surrounding his Buckingham home. Don says " trees and old barns
are my favorite subjects". Tall beech trees stand just outside
his front door and inspire him to pick up the brush everyday.
Don's original paintings can be seen on permanent display at
our South State Street gallery.
